About ISoP - Advisory Board 2019 - 2022 - Biographies
A native of the United States, Rebecca started her professional career with a Doctorate in Medicine and completed training in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. She moved to Uppsala in 2008 to work at the Swedish Medical Products Agency in the department of drug safety where she performed assessments of assessment of periodic safety reports, risk management plans and signal evaluations. She completed both the Certificate course in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance and the short course in Practical Pharmacoepidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
She joined UMC in December 2014. In her position in the Research Section, she provides medical expertise in signal detection and analysis and in research projects to evaluate novel methods to analyze observational medical data. Additionally, she contributes and participates in training courses and scientific courses in Sweden and abroad.
Her specific interest in vaccine pharmacovigilance was born during the Pandemrix/narcolepsy experience which occurred in Europe during the 2009/2010 influenza pandemic. She has experience in the Brighton Collaboration Vasculitis Working Group, the CIOMS Working Group on Vaccine Safety, and the WHO Global Vaccine Safety Initiative.
