From Vision to Impact: Shaping ISoP’s Future Together
One year ago, I shared a vision for ISoP’s future: Strong Community, Trusted Science, Safer Patients. Guided by our two pillars, a member-centric approach and scientific excellence, we committed to building a more inclusive, connected, and influential global scientific society. Today, I am proud of our collective progress and inspired by the commitment driving our Society forward.
We have strengthened our governance and supported the development and reorganisation of our Chapters, Special Interest Groups, and Communities, fostering greater member engagement. We launched Members Spotlight to recognise our members’ contributions and selected a partner to develop and implement a new Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to better serve our community. We are also working to redefine and strengthen the role of our Scientific Board.
Our scientific and institutional milestones include the updated WHO–ISoP Pharmacovigilance Curriculum, our Memorandum of Understanding with ICH, and a vibrant programme of scientific events: the AI in Pharmacovigilance seminars in Boston and Basel, the Mid-Year Symposium in Hatfield, the African Regional Meeting in Windhoek, the NASoP meeting in Boston, and our Global Meeting in San José. Together, these achievements reinforce our scientific contribution and international presence.
We have also strengthened our financial position, achieving 30% growth while reducing expenses by 0.5%, despite inflationary pressures and rising operational costs. This reflects our commitment to responsible financial stewardship and provides a stronger foundation for future investment in our Society and its members.
Looking ahead, we will invest in consolidating these achievements, strengthening our scientific and organisational foundations, and expanding opportunities for our members. We are also continuing to explore opportunities for collaborations with CIP and SEARN and developing initiatives to support pharmacovigilance capacity building in Africa, reflecting our commitment to broader access to scientific education and expertise.
Our ambition is not simply to grow as a Society, but to grow in relevance, credibility, inclusiveness, and impact.
My sincere gratitude goes to our members, volunteers, leadership bodies, Secretariat, and partners for making this progress possible.
Our community is our strength. Science is our foundation. Safer patients is our purpose.
Together, we are not simply envisioning ISoP’s future. We are shaping it.
November 2025
Dear ISoP members, colleagues, and friends,
It is a privilege to serve as President of ISoP, a learned society built on the passion, expertise, and dedication of its members. Together, we share a common goal: advancing the science and practice of pharmacovigilance to ensure safer use of medicines and better outcomes for patients worldwide.
Our strategic plan centers on two foundational pillars: a member-centric approach and a commitment to scientific excellence. We strive to foster an inclusive, engaging community where every member’s voice is heard and valued, empowering you to contribute meaningfully to our shared mission.
At the same time, ISoP is dedicated to promoting rigorous, innovative research and knowledge dissemination that shapes global pharmacovigilance practices. By integrating science with collaboration, we aim to establish ISoP as the trusted global reference in drug safety.
Looking ahead, we will focus on delivering relevant education, networking, and advocacy opportunities that support your professional growth and amplify our collective impact. Together, we will strengthen ISoP’s role in influencing safer healthcare decisions and improving patient safety across the world.
Thank you for your continued commitment to ISoP. It is your involvement and expertise that make our society a powerful force for positive change.
With warm regards,
Omar Aimer
