Patient Safety Day
Patient Safety Day 2020

Description
The World Patient Safety Day builds on a successful series of Global Ministerial Summits on Patient Safety pioneered in 2016 at London as well as relentless advocacy by leaders from all sectors — politicians, patient champions, patient safety experts and global public health leaders. The establishment of an annual World Patient Safety Day will give an opportunity to providers, seekers and managers of health care services to join a platform and express solidarity and compassion to make health care safer. The origin of the day is firmly grounded in the fundamental principle of medicine – First, to do no harm.
We support the WHO campaign.
Our engagement is to develop and share these safety awareness sessions to different audiences (patients, caregivers, HCPs) with the aim to increase safety use of medications and avoid medication errors.
The COVID-19 pandemic has unveiled the huge challenges and risks health workers are facing globally including health care associated infections, violence, stigma, psychological and emotional disturbances, illness and even death. Furthermore, working in stressful environments makes health workers more prone to errors which can lead to patient harm.
Therefore, we are delighted to announce the World Patient Safety Day 2020: HEALTH WORKER SAFETY: A PRIORITY FOR PATIENT SAFETY.
This free event covered topics such as:
- Opening Celebration
- Virtual events on special topics such as hygiene or safe medication in clinics, hospitals, pharmacies or nursing homes
- Worldwide Campaign: Videos or social media initiatives
- Posters with advice for better patient safety
- Medication without Harm
