ISoP Mid Year Training Course 2017

Developing risk management capability: Maximising opportunities from global Pharmacovigilance experience.
This two day-course leveraged the Pharmacovigilance expertise of ISoP and had been designed to help interdisciplinary groups to learn and work together in contributing to patient safety when medicines are used.
At the end of the course, the participants were expected to understand current local and international legislative frameworks, and how they are expected to develop over the coming years. Participants gained an understanding of considerations when developing strategies to increase volumes of ADRs, and how they might be handled through different signal management systems.

The second part of the course focussed on risk management and minimization approaches. Participants gained hand on experience of development of Risk Management Plans (RMPs) and the conduct of Benefit-Risk assessments.
Day one took the form of lectures with opportunity for discussion through questions and answers and panel discussion, while day two focussed on hands-on interactive tasks.
This course was aimed to engage all interested pharmacovigilance professionals in a regulatory, industry, hospital, university or community setting.
The course faculty consisted of Asian and International experts in pharmacovigilance, representing government, academia, and industry.

Training certificates of attendance were provided to those who completed the course.

From Bangkok International airport (Suvarnabhumi)
Public taxis are the most popular way to get into town. Look for ‘Public taxis’ desk outside the arrival building. Depending of traffic it will take 30 or 45 mm.
Airport Rail Link is a smart alternative to taxis (situated on first floor). Take Airport Rail Link to last station (Phayathai Station) then grab a taxi to Mandarin hotel – or transfer to Sky train to Siam Square station – from Siam Square change to Bangwa line and get off at Sala Dang. Walk 2 intersections to Mandarin hotel.

Weather
The hot season runs from March through to June. The weather in Bangkok during May starts to feel extremely humid, though the temperatures are slightly cooler than April (around 31o)
